Conversations with a twelve year old

Scene: Spencer, twelve years old, is in the kitchen making a sandwich. Katelyn, seventeen years old, is sitting at the computer, procrastinating homework and listening to the Goo Goo Dolls.
Spencer: Kate, you like weird music.
Me: Uh huh.
Spencer: It's kind of like alternative pop.
Me: Uh huh.
Spencer: I like music that's more R&B pop.
Me: Uh huh.
Spencer: What does R&B stand for?
Me: Rhythm and blues, I think.
Spencer: Really? Well, then I don't like it.
End scene

Scene: Saturday night, Katelyn, seventeen years old, and Spencer, twelve years old, are watching "My Three Sons"
Spencer: It would be fun to be on a TV show with your brother.
Me: You'd want to be on a TV show with Matthew?
Spencer: No.
Me: Well, he is your brother.
Spencer: I meant some other brother.
End scene

Scene: Spencer, twelve years old, Katelyn, seventeen years old, and their mother, forty seven years old, are driving home from a shop shopping trip
Spencer: They should have preteen shoe stores.
Katelyn: That's not a wide enough age group.
Spencer: I'm in it, that makes it wide enough.
A few moments later
Spencer: Michael Jackson was weird.
Mom: He wasn't always weird.
Spencer: Well, when he was weird, he was a weirdie weirdie.
End scene

Scene: Family scripture study. Spencer, twelve years old, is reading in 2nd Nephi
