Five Go To Winter Outfits

Winter is a fun time of year, but also a cold time of year, and it can be hard to know how to be warm and fashionable at the same time. I found that it's helpful for me to come up with some basic outfit ideas to fall back on, when I feel like I have nothing to wear. Hopefully my winter go tos can inspire you to come up with some go to outfits of your own. Enjoy!

For a Party

From Christmas to New Years to Valentines, winter has tons of parties. This look could be a go to, no matter the occasion. The red flannel makes the look festive, and also more casual, while the black pencil skirt keeps it from being too casual. And then glitter earrings, because I'm pretty sure it's a rule that you just have wear something glittery to a winter party.

Skirt: Old Navy

For a Date Night

I always want to feel comfortable when I'm on a date, but I also want to feel cute, and somehow this outfit manages to do both. It's everything I love about winter clothing; it's warm and cozy, yet somehow also manages to look way more pulled together than it feels.

Dress: H&M
Scarf: Nordstrom
Boots: Modcloth

For a Lazy Snow Day

Lazy snow days, when I get to hole up in my house and watch the snowstorm outside, are the best kinds of days. This oufit is perfect for lounging around on those kind of days, while also looking presentable enough to answer the door if someone happens to come by. Nothing stiff or wrinkley, it's really just a step up from the "just rolled out of bed" look.

Shirt: Forever 21
Cardigan: Savers
Pants: TJ Max
Boots; Modcloth

For an Outdoor Adventure

This is perfect for all the outdoor, snow related activities I tend to do during winter. Puffy vests/coats are the best for sledding/skiing/ice skating/the inevitable snowball fight with my brothers. Warm + padding in case I fall= perfect. Also, really nice warm leggings let me move around while also keeping me from freezing.

For the Day to Day

As much as I love winter, it can be a kind of gloomy, grey time of year. I love wearing brighter colors, because it adds a little color back into my life. Staying warm while I'm walking to classes is the major determining factor in most of my wardrobe choices this time of year, but luckily a nice blouse and a good pair of jeans can be fashionable and warm.
