Two Winter Makeup Looks

To me, winter is a season of contrasts. Soft, white snow compared to Christmas lights and fireworks and midnight parties. Maybe that why when I think about winter makeup, two things come to mind. The first is a glowy, light, princess look that matches the simple beauty of the clean, barren landscape that winter is. The second is a sparkly, smoky, bright look- the classic Christmas or Valentines party look.  So today I'm giving you an example of each of the two looks. One for the everyday and another for the many festive occasions during the winter season.

But first, the base for both looks.

Primer: Maybelline Master Prime- Blur and Redness Control
Foundation: Maybelline Fit Me
Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind
Blush: e.l.f. Facial whip in Lilac Petal
Eyebrows: Rimmel eyebrow pencil and Maybelline brow gel

For my skin, I use a redness controlling primer, since winter is the time when my skin tends to get the reddest (thank you, cold weather). Using a cream blush gives more moisture, and adds this beautiful sheen to cheeks. I go darker on my eyebrows, making them more dramatic.

LOOK 1: NEUTRAL EYE SHADOW WITH LIGHT PINK LIPS

This look is basically the no makeup makeup look, with just a little bit more going on. The eye shadow is light and neutral, making the eyes look fresh and bright without drawing attention to themselves. The lipstick is a unique shade of light pink with just a hint of purple, which gives the look interest while still looking like you're not trying too hard.

Eye shadow: Maybelline The Nudes, three shades on left on top row
Mascara: Maybelline Lash Sensational
Lips: Maybelline Super Stay in Perpetual Peony

LOOK 2: PURPLE SMOKEY EYE WITH RED LIPS

This look is much more vibrant and dramatic. Definitely a "look at me, here I am" look. I used purple eye shadow to add a little more color to the classic smokey eye. The lips are bright red, which can be an intimidating color choice, because it is such an attention grabber, but winter is the perfect time of year for bright red. It fits the season, making it a little less shocking, and making you look very seasonal.

Eye shadow: Revlon Color Stay in Siren
Eyeliner: Maybelline Master Precise
Mascara: Maybelline Lash Sensational
Bronzer: e.l.f. Golden Bronzer
Lips: Rimmel in Jet Set Red
