April Favorites

Wow, I have been working on this post for almost two weeks, and just kept having other things pop up that kept me from finishing it, so sorry this is a bit later than usual. April absolutely flew by! I'm still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I no longer have to study for accounting, or work on my estimating sheets, because this last semester felt like it dragged on for eternity and then finished in the blink of an eye. I'm so glad to be done with finals, although I'm not getting a break from school yet, since I'm taking a couple spring classes.
I've had a lot of fun trying out a bunch of new stuff this month, and I've been loving a lot of it. So bear with me, I hope this isn't too long.

Skincare

Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water: As someone who often gets too tired for the whole "makeup removing" process, this is the perfect solution for me. It removes all my makeup really well, and it's so easy to use. I just put some on a cotton pad and then wipe it all over my face and I'm done! I love how quick and effective it is.

Ole Hendriksen African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser: This is one of those products that is so good and so luxurious that I look forward to using it. The cleanser pumps out of the bottle all foamed up, so I don't have to scrub my face to lather it up. It feels so creamy and silky, and always leaves my face feeling super soft.

Ole Hendriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster: I love this serum. It's super hydrating, and I feel like it makes my moisturizer work twice as well. A little bit goes a long way, so this little bottle will last forever.

Makeup

Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Moisturizer in Opal: This is the perfect tinted moisturizer for summer. It's super light, but still gives really great coverage. And it comes in a great range of shades. I like that it evens out my skin tone, but it doesn't cover up my freckles.

L'Oreal True Match Foundation in Cool Natural Ivory: For days when I want a more full coverage foundation, I've been reaching for this one. It covers everything, but doesn't feel or look cake-y. Plus it has sunscreen in it, which is awesome for summer.

Benefit Dew the Hoola Liquid Bronzer: I'd never tried a liquid bronzer before, but I really love this one. I find that it's easier to blend and contour with a liquid, since I feel like i can have more control. And this bronzer blends into skin really well and looks really natural.

Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzer in Golden Days: I've loved this since I bought it a few months ago, but I've really been loving it this month. Almost every day, I've been swiping it over my cheeks to give them this great golden glow. It's such a perfect end of spring look. I'll definitely be using this a lot during the summer.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Eye-shadow in Creamy Beige: This was my favorite product during finals week, because it's such a quick, easy way to do eye makeup. I'd just use my finger to swipe a little on my eyelids, and then I'd be done. It added just enough definition and color to be noticeable. It's also a great base color, so when I was feeling more ambitious it was really easy to blend it with my powder eye-shadows.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara: This mascara has been such a trooper. I've had it for a long time, and it still makes my lashes look great. It adds really natural looking volume, and, most importantly, it never clumps (which I hate).

Hair

Blow Pro Texture Spray: As someone with thin, fine hair, I was looking for something to add a little more volume and texture to my hair to keep it up when I put it in a ponytail or bun. This is great at doing those things. It gives my hair more volume or grip without it feeling stiff or dirty.

COLAB Dry Shampoo: I am always on the hunt for good dry shampoos, and this one may just be perfect. It seems to be able to achieve the nearly impossible task of being lightweight and highly absorbent. My hair always looks and feels fresh after I use this, and stays that way all day. Be aware, it's pretty strongly scented. I loved the scent I tried, but if you're not a fan of fragrance-y hair products, this might not be for you.

Song

Book

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch: This book was written by a professor who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He goes over his last lecture as a professor, as well as other thoughts on his life and how he's dealing with coming to the end of it. It's a book that makes you stop and think about your own life, and how closely you're following your dreams. He's super honest and candid, and, rather than being depressing, the tone of the book is very hopeful.

Fashion

Red raincoat: This is a pretty old coat from Burlington Coat Factory; I bought it for my mission, used it for 18 months in the wonderfully moist South Carolina, and it's still keeping my as warm and dry as ever. Not only do I always feel like Little Red Riding Hood when I wear this, but it also has kept me comfortable the past couple weeks as I've been walking to class in the rain.
White Noise Tennies: These were a bit of an impulse purchase after I saw someone wearing them on Instagram, but I do not regret buying them for one second. These are so light and soft, they almost make me feel like I'm not wearing anything. They're such a unique, interesting design, but yet they somehow match everything I own.

Memory

I think my favorite memory for April would have to be a spontaneous boba smoothie run that happened one night with some friends. I was in the middle of finishing final projects and studying for exams and was feeling super stressed out. My husband got a call from some of our friends to go out and get boba smoothies. At first I was so stressed I didn't want to go, but my husband talked me into it, and it turned out to be the perfect break. It was great to spend just a little bit of time with friends, and try some very good smoothies. For those who don't know, boba smoothies have little balls of boba, which is like tapioca, in it, and it's very good. We got ours at Green Panda Cafe, and if you're in the Provo/Orem area you should definitely try it sometime.
