Five Go To Summer Outfits

My style gets really simple in the summer, probably because it's so hot I don't want to wearing a whole lot of layers. I find myself reaching for t-shirts, jeans, and dresses that are easy to throw on. So none of these outfit ideas are particularly groundbreaking. Most of them are made up of pretty basic pieces. But basic clothes still make great outfits. So for this summer's capsule wardrobe I picked out some of my favorite pieces, ones that I know I'll be wearing over and over this summer, and combined them into five outfits that represent some of the classic summer activities.

Here's what in my capsule wardrobe this summer:
Black t-shirt- H&M
White button up- Thrift store
USA t-shirt- Brandy Melville
White t-shirt- Modcloth
Jean jacket- Pull and Bear
Pink suede dress- Zara
Pink jumpsuit- Soel Boutique
Jeans- Gap
Wide black trousers- Zara
Brown sandals- Modcloth
Clogs- Swedish Hasbeens

Day at the office: This has been a new clothes area for me, since I've never worked at an office before. I've been surprised at how much I love these wide legged trousers. They're really fun to wear, and also very lightweight. To keep it business casual I paired it with a black t-shirt. And if it's a colder day, I add my jean jacket to the mix.

Day of Sightseeing: It's inevitable that I spend at least one day of my summer walking around a city. Days like that are often hot, humid and involve a lot of walking. So this jumpsuit and t-shirt are perfect because they're light and comfortable.

Fourth of July: What could be a better outfit for the birthday of America than the classic American combination of denim and a t-shirt. The flag on the shirt is a bonus.

An Outdoor Wedding Reception: Can you tell that I really like this dress? It's definitely my go to piece at the moment, so it's making an appearance on the blog for the second week in a row. This is a little more dressed down than I normally like to be for a wedding, but for an outdoor reception I think this is such a perfect, simple outfit.

A Picnic in the Park: Going to the park for a picnic isn't something we do often, because it's so much easier to eat at home rather than to pack everything up, but it is something that I do really enjoy. And somehow a red bandana seems like the perfect picnic accessory, maybe because it matches the lining of my picnic basket.

So those are some of my go to outfits for this summer!
