Thrift Store Makeover: Jean Skirt

As I was going through my closet in preparation for summer, a jean skirt seemed like the perfect edition. But rather than buy a pre-cut, frayed edge skirt I thought I'd make one myself. So I made a trip to the thrift store, and found a skirt that I liked. This one has buttons down the front, and is on the highwaisted side.

Cutting it to the length I wanted, and giving it a frayed edge was really simple. I marked the length I wanted, then cut the skirt to that length. Then I stitched a line about half an inch away from the edge of the skirt, so that it wouldn't fray too much. To fray the edges, I threw it in the washing machine.

And now I have a great new skirt, that cost me about $4.
