Some Saturday Morning Reading

Thank goodness for the weekend! It's been a busy work week for us, so I am excited to clean up the tornado that has become our living room and catching up on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Here's the articles I've been loving this week.

This is an old article, but one that I've been thinking about a lot the past week. The Southern Baptist Convention voted last year after the Charleston church shooting to end the use of the Confederate flag. The article explains why they did this, and it's one of the best arguements I've heard when it comes to removing symbols of the Confederacy.
"They decided our African-American brothers and sisters are more important than family heritage. We decided that we are defined not by a Lost Cause but by amazing grace. Let’s pray for wisdom, work for justice, love our neighbors."
Having lived in South Carolina for 18 months, I know that most people who fly the Confederate flag, and defend Confederate statues, do so out of pride for their heritage, not racism. But I believe we have a responsibility to take care of each other, and part of that is being aware of how our actions and words make others feel. And that's why I love what this article says. The Southern Baptist Convention decided to stop using the flag out of love and respect for their black members. We should all care that much about each other.

I admire this 7 minute makeup routine. It would probably take me 30 minutes.

These are great tips to avoid succumbing to bad food choices, especially when it comes to breakfast.
